Seva Retreats

The Concept
Seva is an integral part of the teachings from the Chiranjeev Gurukal Leadership Lessons. We, at Chiranjeev Gurukul, hold a stark differentiation between Service and Seva – The former being more transactional and where there is an expectation in giving. Whereas Seva is akin to devotion (Bhakti to the divine). It is without expectations and is limitless. The Ripple Effect of Seva is never ending.
At Chiranjeev Gurukul we have a concept called “Seva Retreats”. Our community gets together at a particular location and the participants to experience the joy that is felt in sharing and giving with a willingness to share what each has as an ability – It could be by working at the farm and helping with the harvest, or it could be by helping to mentor someone in the group, anytime you willingly devote your time and love to help others becomes Seva.
- Seva Is more akin to devotion (Bhakti to divine)
- It is without expectations
- Seva is limitless
- Receiver is overwhelmed
- Ripple effect of Seva is never ending
Events & Updates
We create a day and half long intervention for the participants where they experience some learning and also experience activities which awakens the Seva Bhaav in them.
- Advantages of doing Seva are:
- Sincere giving helps to break barriers and strengthens the connection with each other.
- Moodiness and other self centered feelings dissipate when you are engaged in helping others, whether it is mentoring your team or helping the farmers with harvesting or weeding the farm or cleaning the dirt off the pathways, preparing vegetables & cooking for the participants etc.
