Atithi Devo Bhavah: Engineering students get Life skills orientation, based on Indian Knowledge Systems, through India’s own methodologies
Its finally happening…Over 100 students in Pune and Mumbai, got a unique orientation to critical behavioural skills over 14 hours of interactive sessions, filled with experiential activities based on eternal Indian wisdom.
Titled “Atithi Devo Bhavah”, Chiranjeev Gurukul (CG) partnered with MSSU to custom-build an intervention, which would enable them to steer their student lives, a pre-cursor to building professional careers, in a meaningful way. These MSSU students were exposed to eternal Indian concepts like “Seva, “Dharm” and “Neeti” through their modern applications and through a methodology titled “7S” by CG, which involved discussions over stories and video clips, reflections and short assignments, as also group activities and games. In addition, the students were given tools to improve their mental capacities and productivity such as Mindful breathing, Dincharya and much more.
The session ended with action planning by the students – to convert learning into immediate action. The objective of the intervention was to make students “Seva-oriented” and inculcate key values, even before they embark on their careers.
The students simply loved being re-introduced to their own culture and having so much fun while learning so much in 2 days!
